Privacy policy

The short version

Your images never leave your device. Everything the tool does — background removal, cutting, erasing, exporting — happens locally in your browser. We do not upload, store, or see your images. We have no accounts and ask for no personal information.

Your images

When you open an image in the tool, it is loaded into your browser's memory and drawn to a canvas on your device. It is discarded when you close or refresh the tab. It is never sent to us or to any third party.

The background-removal model

The AI that detects subjects runs on your own device. The first time you use it, your browser downloads two things and caches them: the runtime software from the jsDelivr content delivery network, and the neural network itself from Hugging Face, which hosts the open-source model. Those downloads reveal only that a browser at your IP address requested those files — your image is not part of either request and is never transmitted. All processing happens afterwards, on your device, inside the page.

Information we collect

We do not collect names, emails, or accounts. Like most websites, our host and content-delivery network may process standard technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) to serve the page and protect against abuse. We do not use this to identify you.

Local storage

We store a single flag in your browser's local storage (cutitout_seen_help) so the "How to use" panel only opens automatically on your first visit. It contains no personal data and never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Advertising and cookies

This site is supported by ads served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Ad scripts are loaded from Google's ad domains. These scripts are separate from our own code — our "your image never leaves your device" promise applies to how we handle your images, not to Google's advertising systems.

Analytics

We do not currently run any analytics on this site. If that changes we will use privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics that do not identify individual users, and we will update this page. We do not sell any data.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
